How do I find out the quality of golf clubs at the lower end of the pricing scale?

Question: eg Donnay International. Dunlop Max, Slazenger Panther and Maxfli.

Answer: Well, i always believe price comes with quality. Lower end clubs do not offer custom fitting so there is a limited chance you might get to test them on the range. My best shots is to scrutinize the physical build quality for the following parts: 1. Club head - make sure the grooves are cut with precision and with good quality depth. I ever saw a brand that has uneven groove depth. If the grooves are uneven, maybe the clud weight is not equal too which affects the set swing weight. 2. Club head overall quality - is the polish smooth and looks like the upper brand. If they look like them they will also perform like them as there isn't much technology in the club head except the type of steel material and inserts. 3. The shaft - checks out the ferrule and the graphite shaft as I have seen many lower quality clubs break at the furrule. Most lower cost set comes with graphite shaft and you can never know what are the strength of these cheaper and more quality inferior graphite shaft performs. 4. The grip - feel the grip if it is too thin or too hard then you can never like it after buying it. If the set comes with a grip by Lamkin or Golf Prde then they should be ok.
