Why won't my car start without priming the carb?

Question: I have to edit my question. 460 cubic inch, 1970 Lincoln with 4 barrel. Car will NOT start cold without priming it. Brand new fuel pump, no visible leaks at carb, brand new fuel filters. Car will run fine after starting. Can walk away from it and it will idle forever, it simply will not start cold without priming it.

Answer: sounds like the choke isn't set right, make sure it is closing when you first hit the throttle cold. could be bad accelerator pump or low float setting.
