Am I damaging my health?

Question: I'm not very active and I eat less than 1000 calories a day. It's not intentional, I just don't get hungry and get full really quickly. Should I be taking some sort of multi vitamin? I'm 5 foot 9 and weigh 137 pounds...in my mid twenties. Will I run into health risks as I get older (osteoperosis, etc?)

Answer: You must have a very low metabolic rate to be able to survive on such a low calorie intake. Most people consume at least double your calorie intake. Your weight is actually quite good for your height. In view of your low calorie intake you could easily be deficient in a few nutrients so for you a multivitamin is a definite must. If you are deficient in calcium you could develop osteoporosis so you may also need a calcium supplement every day. 300 ml of milk a day is regarded as the minimum to get sufficient calcium.
