Question:
Answer: The short answer is No. They do not live on Antarctica. Polar bears (Ursus maritimus) live in the Arctic tundra and taiga regions surrounding the North Pole - Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia. Here's a link from the San Diego Zoo which has a map showing the habitat range of the polar bear: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-polar_bear.html Someone else mentioned that the North Pole is landlocked. It is not. The North Pole may be covered by ice, but it is in the middle of the Arctic Ocean - while early polar explorers reached the North Pole on foot or on dogsleds, ice-breaking ships and submarines can reach it as well.
