Does it matter what kind of shoes you wear when riding your bike?

Question: I am not talking about super long distances or anything -- just riding for excercise/fun. Thanks!

Answer: It does, actually. You need comfort, first of all.Next is support and protection.Lightweight.Traction. With these criteria, skateboarding shoes can be the best choice. These shoes are very comfortable, they offer ample ankle support (they have high and padded collars),they are not stiff but allow your foot to stay steady inside the shoe, they're lightweight (skateboarders use them to flick the board and do tricks),and they offer excellent traction because their soles are made of sticky rubber. This traction keeps your foot/shoe stable on the pedal so your feet don't slip off the pedals when you're riding. Also, your pedals must be platform pedals and not the ones that need cleated cycling shoes. You can see also the type of pedals they are used with. This is just a visual example and not my reference point for brand and price.
