I am trying to get different views on F. Scott Fitzgerald's THE GREAT GATSBY.?

Question: How did you, as a reader, react to Daisy cheating on her husband with Gatsby? Why? For example, did you think it was ok, considering that Gatsby was her ture love and that her husband was cheating on her too? Or did you think it was still wrong and that Daisy and her husband should have been loyal to each other even though they didn't truely love one another?

Answer: No, I don't think it was OK. But I don't think Daisy had a conscience nor do I think she was truly capable of loving anyone - including her own child. Gatsby had a fantasy image of her. He remembered her differently from what she actually is. She was a selfish, self centered person who cared for no one but herself. Gatsby was wasting his time worshipping an ideal. That is kind of the point of him staring at the green light. He never really knew the real Daisy. Pax - C
